2How to file a grievance
To help us resolve your complaint quickly, email the Grievance Officer and include:
- Your full name and contact details, so we can respond and verify your request.
- A clear description of the grievance — what happened and why it violates our policies or your rights.
- The affected content or account — a link, username, profile ID, or screenshot identifying the subject of your complaint.
- Supporting evidence — screenshots, message logs, or timestamps that help us investigate.
- Your relationship to the matter — whether you are the affected person, a representative, or a third-party reporter.
3Timelines
- We acknowledge your complaint within 24 hours of receipt.
- We resolve the complaint within 7 days from the date of receipt, as mandated by the IT Rules 2021 (as amended in 2026).
- Requests to remove content exposing a private area, nudity, a sexual act, or impersonation (including morphed images) are actioned within 2 hours of a valid report under Rule 3(2)(b).
4What complaints are covered
- Content violations — unlawful, obscene, or policy-violating content.
- Privacy concerns — unauthorized sharing of your personal information or images.
- Account issues — access, suspension, or verification disputes.
- Harassment and abuse — threatening, bullying, or abusive behavior.
- Impersonation — fake profiles or accounts pretending to be you.
- CSAM reports — see our Child Safety Standards. These are escalated immediately.
5Escalation — Grievance Appellate Committee
- If you are not satisfied with the Grievance Officer's decision, or your complaint is not resolved within 7 days, you may appeal to the Grievance Appellate Committee (GAC) established under the IT (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Amendment Rules, 2023.
- Appeals may be filed within 30 days of the decision at gac.gov.in.
